Alice Burr (1883-1968): South China Sea Drawing (Unsigned)
Our grandmother wrote Alice Burr on the back of this piece, presumably drawn while on world tour together in 1934-1935. Our grandmother however also wondered if it was in Bangkok. It is not. It is clearly a Chinese junk, captured by the eye of her aunt Alice probably in the South China Sea.
American artist Alice Burr was most well known as a pictorialist, her photography commanding much higher prices than we are asking for other artwork by her. She did love drawing and other forms of artistic expression.
