Alice Burr (1883-1968): Travel Linocut – Village in Southern Sudan, (Signed)

This linocut print could also be a woodblock print, but we are erring on the side of caution. We found it stored in a large envelope marked ‘Alice Burr’s Linocuts, Woodcuts, Sketches, etc. Africa, Asia’. . It is titled and signed by the artist below the image.
 
American artist Alice Burr, our distant grand aunt, travelled the world with her sister and cousins as single women in the 1920s and 1930s. Alice later became famous as a pictorialist, her photography commanding much higher prices than we are asking for her linocuts.
 
This is similar to another piece we have titled ‘Uganda’ but upon closer examination, it is quite different.
 
This piece is casually mounted on an old piece of cream mat board, with foxing / discoloration spots visible under the print and on the backside within the mat cover as shown in photos.
