Alice Burr (1883-1968): Travel Sketch – Prague (Unsigned), 1920s or 1930s
Correct us if we are wrong about the location of this unsigned sketch, but we do believe it matches the skyline of Prague, looking toward the Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) from the Southeast of the city.
We found it stored with an assortment of signed and unsigned travel sketches by American artist Alice Burr, our distant grand aunt, who travelled the world with her sister and cousins as single women in the 1920s and 1930s.
Alice later became famous as a pictoral artist, her photography commanding much higher prices than we believe we should ask for her travel sketches.
This piece is mounted on a simple mat with tape as shown in photos. It is in near original condition, no wrinkles, foxing or spotting.
Sketch: H 7 3/4” x L 5”
