Alice Burr (1883-1968): Travel Sketch – San Francisco (Unsigned), 1930s

$5.00Price

We found this larger postcard size sketch stored in a folder entitled ‘smaller sketches by Alice Burr’. On the back is the title ‘San Francisco’ in her handwriting.

American artist Alice Burr, our distant grand aunt, travelled the world with her sister and cousins as single women in the 1920s and 1930s. San Francisco was her home however. Alice later became famous as a pictorialist, her photography commanding much higher prices than we believe we should ask for her travel sketches.

This piece is a page from a sketchbook that we liked too much to just toss…

Sketch: H 4 7/8” x L 7”
