Antique American Woven Wood Child’s Chair / Large Doll Chair

$50.00Price

This family heirloom may hail from Nantucket and the Burr family circa the 1890s but we are only guessing how it ended up in our family.

We believe it is a Shaker chair due to its simple, functional design, but we could be wrong. It matches several using that description online. The woven seat, possibly made of straw, is original to the best of our knowledge and holding together very well. The wood, possibly made of pine, has a beautiful patina and could shine with polishing. It is held together with small nails and handmade joints.

The only oddity is that one side of the seat (the front left if one was sitting on it) is about half an inch lower than the rest of the seat. There is a small stain on the top back panel and a crack in the wood where a child’s left shoulder might touch.

H 18 1/8” x L 13” x D 10 3/4”

Seat is 7 1/4-7 3/4” off the ground (one corner lower than the others)

The top back slat is 17” off the ground
