Antique Chinese Butterscotch Faux Amber Beads with Silver Clasp Choker 14”
This beautiful unique necklace has a Chinese stamp on the back of the snap-in designer locket on the back which a friend was able to translate as ‘silver’. The crackled faux amber beads are strung on what might be waxed string. Unfortunately one bead cracked in two during photography. We also spotted another chipped bead as shown in photos. A gemologist since confirmed these are simulated amber beads probably coated and cracked to look like amber so we have significantly lowered our initial asking price.
We found this necklace in our grandmother’s jewelry collection. She did visit China in the 1930s.
Meanwhile we found several similar pieces selling online for over $ 1,000 including one sold at auction for $ 1,300. We are consulting an expert about this piece.
