Antique Chinese Cat Locket (Missing Key)

These locks had interesting keys that would unlock them. We are sorry that we have not found the keys to this piece. It still has charm though, or so we think! We are not sure if it is made of heavy brass or bronze.
 
We believe this was purchased by our grandmother or the Burr sisters in China in the 1920s or 1930s. It is in good vintage condition but there is a crack where the lock enters the cat's head (see photos) and this could use a polishing (see tarnishing in photos).
