Antique Chinese Enameled Rattan Silver Plate Floral Theme Bangle, 7.5”
Late 1800s or early 1900s bangle made of two pieces of pliable rattan or bamboo with enameled cobalt blue flowers on silver plates connected by a metal chain to a larger silver plate with floral and leaves pattern, some parts enameled in part if not whole, and light blue coloring (which may be oxidation). We have not tried to clean this piece. The enamel is imperfect, with the two main floral images not perfectly covered. There is no maker's mark.
We found this among our grandmother’s jewelry collection. She did visit China in the mid 1930s with the Burr sisters so it may have been hers or inherited from the Burrs. There is no maker’s mark or silver hallmark, but it tested positive for silver using the acid test.
Similar pieces with an additional decorative element in the center of the wood section and more detailed designs are online for $ 350-400.
