Antique Chinese Kitchen Qing Bowl, 1800s

$50.00Price

This glazed stoneware piece matches a few Ming Dynasty bowls we found online, with the same blue lines and maker or master’s mark in the center, the same imagery on the exterior including bamboo stalks and blossoms, and the same cobalt blue on a grayish white glaze. We have however been assured it is more likely a common, mass produced, fine clay Kitchen Qing bowl from the 19th Century.

Kitchen Qing is a phrase used to describe everyday porcelain, mostly provincial blue and white 19th Century export dishes and bowls with simplified decoration.

This has an odd uneven oval shape with one side lower than the other, but stands stable. There are minor notches on the footed base as shown in photos, and another on the rim. The mirror, or bowl, is pockmarked from the glazing process.
