Antique Chinese Longevity Pendant & Long Intricate Sterling Panel Chain 54”

SKU: N074
$90.00Price

The antique Chinese longevity pendant features double repousse with one side translated as many longevity blessings - the symbols identified as ‘fu’  (good luck/blessings) ‘shou’ (longevity) and ‘bai’ (hundred or many). The other side wishes double happiness and joy for longevity – the symbols including ‘xi’ (double happiness, joy and marital blessings), ‘shou’ (longevity), and the third symbol a mystery. We have yet to test the silver on this piece but have every reason to believe it is silver.

The necklace chain is an intricately crafted piece. The 3/8” high panels which connect to links and the clover like end pieces are works of art on their own. The chain is marked STERLING on the clasp which was connected to the longevity pendant. We believe this chain was added by our grandmother so she could wear the pendant.

We believe the pendant was probably purchased in China by our grandmother in the mid 1930s or the Burr sisters in the 1920s. The necklace chain’s origin or date is unknown.

The pendant has some tarnishing as shown in photos, especially on the upper side but is otherwise in good condition. The chain necklace has one link that slipped out of place. We believe it is easy to fix, the original link still attached (we do not have the tools here).
