Antique Hotpoint Toaster Catalog No. 159T33 Drop Door Art Deco (Wire Cut)

$30.00Price

Made by Edison Electric Appliance Co., a General Electric Organization, in the 1910s or early 1920s. It features "drop-side" or "flop-out" doors for placing and flipping over the toast manually. It was one of the first models allowing the toasting of two pieces of bread at the same time.

Ours has an ornate metal design and a chrome finish. A radio toggle style turn knob on one side effectuates the opening and closing of the toast plates. Beneath it is an on/off switch and the then new option of toaster times from 0 to 5.

The markings on the base, which are very hard to read on this one, indicate the catalog no. 159T33, as well as wattage and voltage.

As clear in photos, the cord to this toaster has been cut. The interior is rusty and dirty. The sides also have rust, tarnish, and some residue we were unable to remove. (Brasso worked on some spots but we thought we would leave a full polishing job to the buyer.) We are selling this AS IS and would recommend a buyer only use it for decorative purposes.
