Antique Indian Tribal Art Blue-Green Brass Elephant Head Wall Hanging
This item has a rich blue-green patina from oxidation, suggesting it is made of brass (hints of which can be seen on the rim of the backside. We believe it is filled with cement as shown on the back. This might have helped it keep its shape over the decades.
We found only one similar online, which was described as Indian tribal art.
We believe this was purchased in India by our grandmother in 1935 or the Burr sisters who travelled there in the 1920s and 1930s. WE love its lines and complimentary shapes. It is in very good condition for its age athough there are natural imperfections alongside the oxidation that has caused it to turn blue-green. We would not dare try to polish it as we love the color.
