Antique Silver Rajasthani Hinged Anklet or Bracelet 6.75”

Warning: Despite the hinge, this piece is rigid when locked shut, so appropriate only for those with a wrist size of 6 3/4 or smaller.
 
This hinged bracelet features a floral geometric pattern on the front, which is in fact the opening for one’s wrist or ankle. The other two sections feature a diagonal geometric pattern. Three silver tone bands wind around the tubular bracelet at equidistant points, two with the three special gate clasp that holds the bracelet closed once pushed into place. The clasp above the hinge has a metal link holding it in place. 
 
The inside bears signs of the hand hammering that went into the shaping of the piece. We have not polished this bracelet, so it still has a dark patina. It tested positive for silver using a home acid test.
 
We found this in our grandmother’s silver jewelry collection and believe she would have bought it in Rajasthan in the mid 1930s when she visited India and picked up several intricately carved and handcrafted pieces of jewelry.
