Antique Wood Carving Architectural Panel: Origin Unknown, 28.5” Long
This relief sculpted wood carving, stained dark, may have been created to fit a window or door. It has three holes bored through what is the base in our photos, but may have been the top originally. We believe it is meant to be a floral motif with many wide flat pieces. We have been unable to find anything comparable online. We are consulting a specialist.
We believe it is made of a single piece of teakwood and was purchased by the Burr sisters on one of their world tours in the 1920s or 1930s. As shown in photos, they turned it into wall décor, the wall mounts still attached.
It is in very good condition for such a vintage piece. There are three blemishes or stains on the back which appear as if they are wet spots in photos, but they are not.
