Antique Wooden Carved Wired Peg Leg Dolls (One in Need of Repair)

$5.00Price

We found these folk art pieces among other family heirlooms from the mid to late 1800s. Their faces are carved wood with very simple decoration. Their arms and legs are also ‘peg leg’ style wood, attached to the bodies by articulated wire, allowing for some movement. We believe the bodies may be made of rags. It is possible these are Swedish rag dolls but we were unable to confirm that. They could also be German in origin.

The one in green and white romper needs help with her hair, which has come off the back of the head as shown in photos. There is also a loose string from where the romper connects, and we do not know why she is wearing a bandage.

The one with braids is in better vintage condition.
