Antique Wurlitzer 4 String Open Back Tenor Banjo, c 1920s (Head Ripped)
How this banjo came into our family, we do not know, but we know our mother loved strumming on it. As shown in photos, it has a ripped head and needs cleaning, tuning, etc. There are also some loose bracket hooks.
Our online research suggests this model, with the beautiful mother-of-pearl inlaid motifs on the shapely headstock and simple small diamond shapes on the neck, dates back to the 1920s. The maker’s name Wurlitzer is on the perch pole. We believe the wood on the neck and sides is maple.
This comes as is, no case included.
Approx. H 30” x W 11 1/4” x D 3”
Diameter of skin/head 10 3/4”
