Charles R Hadley Heavy Top-Bound Pathfinder Accounting Ledger, 1930s

$20.00Price

This may only be collectible in accounting circles and among those with a niche interest in the history of accounting and city management, but we had to list it just in case it found one of the above…

The Charles R. Hadley Company was a Los Angeles-based accounting firm that published the "Pathfinder" accounting system which was prominent in the 1930s. It published the Manual of Pathfinder Accounting System for Municipalities. They also had special systems for sales organizations.

This one is in vintage condition, intended as a prop or for study from a historical angle. Some pages do have minor writing on them and others are creased or have smudges. One of them had new headers added by typewriter. See photos. Also, the tabs in the back have no affiliated inserts.

The very heavy ‘post binding’ account ledger cover uses metal posts to secure the pages. The covers are metal as well, we believe, with black vinyl and paper wrap. We believe the style – all black with knobs – was custom made for the Charles R Hadley Co. as there is nothing like them online and we later realized one of the knobs has the HADLEY name on it. The front cover is in decent vintage condition. The back unfortunately has some white staining which we were unable to remove.

H 12” x W 12” x D 2” book only, 3 1/4” including metal posts.
