Elis Kauppi for Kupittaan Kulta 1964 Smoky Quartz Silver Ring, Size 6.25

SKU: R012
$60.00Price

This modernist ring is striking. It features a multifaced quartz crystal in the center, sunken below a wide silver band that slopes slightly upwards. This was Elis Kauppi’s signature ‘caged ball’ or ‘trapped ball’ style, innovative bezel set stones.

Elis Kauppi (1921-2004) designed this for Kupittaan Kulta, a Finnish minimalist jewelry brand, our online research suggesting it was released in 1964.

The ring is open backed with two hallmarks on the inner band. One reads 295, denoting this is made of sterling silver. The other is an anvil shaped mark associated with Kupittaan Kulta in the 1960s.

We found this in our grandmother’s vintage jewelry collection. We do not know when or where it was acquired. It is in good vintage condition.
