Ersari Turkmen Chuval Design Wine Bottle Bag (Textile Museum DC)

$5.00Price

This piece was sold by The Textile Museum, Washington, D.C. as patterned on an Ersari Turkmen Wall Bag (Chuval) from the 19th Century, created presumably for its museum shop © 1989.

A chuval is a decorated bag used by the Turkmen nomadic people for carrying items, usually covered in polygonal motifs called ‘gul’ that identify the tribe.

The canvas bag and sewn-in drawstring is in excellent vintage condition, apparently never used, its colors bright and cloth clean.

Note: We had to use a carton of juice for the photos, so a wine bottle top may actually rise above the bag.

PS: Wine will not be included with purchase of the bag.

H 16 1/2” x L 6” lying flat.

Disclaimer: We have tried to make sure colors shown in photos are representative of the real colors of each item. We have tried to identify all imperfections in descriptions, but we may have missed some. If you are unhappy with your purchase, let us know.
