French Ceramic Butter Keeper Dish by Trey, 1990
Keep your butter soft and spreadable at room temperature in this stoneware kitchen ‘butter bell’. Fill the top bell section with softened real butter (not margarine) and then fill the base with enough water to contact the butter and form an air seal before closing the lid. Water should be changed every 2-4 days, no need to refrigerate.
This butter keeper is glazed in speckled and splotchey brown shades and spots, with a bluish ring around the center of the lid, only the base unglazed. The base is signed Tref (or Trey), ’90. We were unable to identify the artist online.
There is a large notch on the brim of the bell section as shown in photos. Otherwise it is in excellent condition.
