Guatemalan Wedding Chain Venetian Glass Bead Pendant/Clip
This beautiful, complex vintage or antique pendant has seen better days but that’s no reason for us not to try to find it a new home as it is so artfully crafted.
This pendant features a six petaled clear glass encased floral-shaped compartment at the top. In the center is an interesting tear drop-shaped section with three clear glass stones and a green glass diamond shaped at the top of the tear drop, with two clear glass stone settings above it, and above them a red stone. Looked at from a distance, the central compartment resembles an angel. In the hole in the center of the tear drop is a smaller tear drop with another red glass stone. Dangling from each compartment are more glass stone tear drops, each with three pearl color and green beads. At the very bottom, a longer tear drop with clear glass and a red dot and line within create the image of a fish.
At the top of the piece is a small loop into which can be strung a necklace chain. On the back, is a pin, allowing for other options on how this piece could be worn.
As shown in photos, several of the smaller clear glass stones and the pearl color-green dangles are missing / could be replaced. In the upper left, a bracket is missing from the dangling section, replaced with a simple gold color wire.
We found this in our grandmother’s vintage jewelry collection with a note that read ‘ part of a Guatemala wedding chain – Venetian glass beads’. We found nothing like it online, although there is an Indian floral pattern piece with diamonds. These are not diamonds.
