H. Stern Sputnik Multi-Gemstone 18k Gold Cocktail Ring, Size 5.5

This unusual collector’s item has 19 bezel set gems in the dome (none particularly valuable according to the gemologist we consulted). It is marked 750 indicating it is 18k gold, and has the H. Sterm T with crown logo, both within the band as shown in photos.
 
The Sputnik ring was designed to commemorate the launch of the Sputnik 1 in October 1957, featuring a futuristic orb with gemstones used to mimic the satellite’s antennae. Hans Stern’s company H. Stern was based in Brazil and renowned for experimental designs and use of the country’s bountiful gemstones.

The ring head is 3/4” in L and W. It sits approx. 1/2” above the finger.
