Hungarian 5 Korona 1909 Coin Headed Silver Tone Antique Bottle Stopper

$10.00Price

This piece features a 5 Korona coin with the effigy of Franz Joseph I, Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary, dated 1909, the 40th anniversary of his rule. He reigned from 1848 until his death in 1916.

On the front of the coin, the phrase "FERENCZ JOZSEF I.K.A.CS.ES.M.H.S.D.O.AP.KIR" is a Hungarian inscription which translates to “Franz Joseph by the grace of God Austrian Emperor, Apostolic King of Hungary, Croatia, Slavonia and Dalmatia”. On the value side are two angels holding a crown above the value 5 KORONA and date 1909, which are within sprigs. On the edge of the coin is believe to be a Latin phrase meaning "my trust is in ancient virtues" signed by Bizlamam Az Osi Erenyben.

The coin and the top of the stopper both tested negative for silver on a home acid test. They both have a patina consistent with their age. The cork is in decent condition although short and stubby.
