Jaina Namokar Mantra (No. 316) Painting Poster

Jaina Namokar Mantra (No. 316) Painting Poster

$10.00Price

The Namaukar Yantra, or Namokar Mantra or Navkar Mantra, is the fundamental prayer in Jainism that pays homage to supreme beings, asking not for favors or material benefits, but rather expressing deep respect and seeking only inspiration for these beings. It is a powerful tool for spiritual growth, promoting humility, compassion and interconnectedness.

This poster depicts the Chakra wheel of those one pays respect to on the path to achieving ‘siddah’ or perfectionism. The back of the poster explains the figures shown, ranging from the Siddah Pujan in red to 24 Yakshas (angels), 16 Vidyas (mantras), and a combination of 24 important gods and goddesses.

Jainism, which was founded in 5BC in India, requires nonviolence, high ethics, and ‘right faith, right knowledge, and right action’.

This poster probably dates back to the late 1960s and was most likely purchased by our mother in India or Nepal. On the back are some paragraphs about the faith and the images in the painting that the poster shows.

We have two of these posters, both of which have been rolled up for decades so they will need some to flatten out. One is quite clean on the back, the other not - as shown in photos here - it has some old liquid stains and is partly discolored. The front of both however are fine, in very good condition for their age.
