Large Oblong Shaped Chunky Vintage Bakelite Bangle, 8”

This piece is a solid thick black color with rounded edges and no seams. It tested positive for Bakelite with the hot water test. It does have some nicks and scratches from wear by our grandmother decades ago, consistent with its age.
 
Bakelite was an early type of plastic which became popular in the 1910-1940s for costume jewelry as it could be molded easily into different shapes. The most collectible pieces are much more decorative or have rare colors, which this piece does not.
