Lionel Le Grand for I. Magnin Brown Elbow Length Leather Gloves, Size 6.5
These are at a bargain basement price for Lionel Le Grand gloves as the fingers show signs of frequent use with the tips stained a darker brown. See photos.
One of the gloves has the designer’s name and size 6 1/2 inside. To measure your glove size, use a tape measure to find the circumference of your dominant hand at its widest point, excluding your thumb. The resulting measurement in inches is typically your glove size. For half-inch measurements, round up to the nearest whole or half size.
The other glove is stamped inside ‘Made in France / (Something illegible) / I. MAGNIN & Co.’
For fans of history:
Lionel Le Grand was a French glovemaker active from the 1930s to the 1970s, celebrated for inventing velvet-calfskin and creating luxury gloves for high-end department stores and fashion houses
I. Magnin & Co. was a San Francisco-based luxury department store chain founded in 1876 in Oakland by Mary Ann Magnin and her husband Isaac, initially selling infant clothing and expanding into high-fashion women's wear by importing designer goods. It’s first store in San Francisco was flattened by the 1906 earthquake. It rebuilt and became renowned for its upscale clientele, exclusive merchandise, and lavish stores, including the "White Marble Palace" flagship in San Francisco, which opened in 1948. It was sold a few times before Macy’s took it over and eventually phased out its last store in 1994.
