Mystery Double Pin Brooch or Collar Necklace (Possibly A. Bisbe)

SKU: BP021
$10.00Price

This had us stumped. An identical construction of the lower tabs and the center chain on a necklace by Barcelona-based designer in the 1970s and 1980s, an Aureli Bisbe, (with the same rubbing marks of tab on tab) led us down a goose path. She always marked her pieces A. Bisbe on the clasp, but this piece has no clasps, nor markings. We thought perhaps our grandmother lost the clasp and converted this into a pin, but the pins on either end appear original, the welding to the base the same as other sections.  Nothing with the double pin and double silver tabs, or plates showed up online.

It was suggested this piece and A Bisbe’s necklace were inspired by Egyptian silver necklace collars, also known as Usekh. Ours has tested negative for silver using a home acid test.

It could have been meant to be a bracelet (the size would have fit our grandmother), but the pins on either end do not fit each other as far as we can tell.

To be honest, we have no idea how this was intended to be worn, our pictures only guesses.
