Rare Akha Hill Tribe Heavy Large Coiled Unmarked Silver Cuff, Approx 167g 6"+

SKU: B093
$300.00Price

Historical records show Akha women wearing these cuffs back in the early 1900s, many now sold to antique dealers so they are described online as rare. We found several online however, with asking $ 350 and up per piece.

This was part of either our grandmother’s or mother’s vintage jewelry collection, probably purchased in the early 1970s.

The hand crafted coils of this bracelet lead to solid silver ends engraved with two circular spotted geometric patterns on either side. The C shape of the bracelet and the coils allow some flex in the shape to fit onto one's arm.

As shown in photos, there are some natural imperfections particularly where the coils meet the end pieces. This piece also appears copper colored on the exterior. We have not tried to polish it. We are very confident it is however high grade Akha silver, and it tested positive for silver using an acid test.

Note: Several online vendors claim this is Navajo jewelry but we refer you to Michael Beckman’s listing which describes these being photographed and recorded in historical records of the Akha people.
