Slim Vintage Ayurvedic Mixed Metals Copper Brass Open Cuff, 6.25”

Warning: This bracelet is rigid, meaning if you intend to wear it, your wrist should measure 6 1/4” or less. 
 
We believe this cuff bracelet was acquired along with two others from India by our grandmother in the 1930s, where Ayurvedic medicine practitioners believed mixed metal bracelets have healing properties. Copper may reduce stress, pain and inflammation, as well as improve the immune system. Brass may improve the metabolic system and stimulate energy flow.
 
This particular bracelet features geometric ‘leaves’ in different metals all heading for the central floral bud. The bracelet includes three colors of metal – a gold tone metal, a darkwood colored metal, and a redder metal. There are a few chips and imperfections that were most likely the result of the fact it is hand made. The bracelet may once have been  polished with copper polish which resulted in the removal of zinc, giving it a pinkish hue (we did not do it ourselves). We learned this piece should be cleaned with toothpaste or soap and lemon juice. This piece could indeed use a cleaning, especially of the crevices which may have remnants of past polishing in them.
