Hank Simon: Thai Shadow Puppet, 1987 (15 3/4” x 11 3/4”)
This work features what might be an etching of a Thai shadow puppet on handmade saa or mulberry paper from Thailand. This is mounted on a dark mat with a white mat behind most of the image. The artwork is signed Hank Simon ’87 in the lower right corner.
We believe Hank was a member of the Inky Fingers artist collective Nancy helped form in Bangkok in the mid 1980s.
A sticker on the original plastic cover taped onto a support pad read ‘Hank Simon No. 14 B 400’. We had to toss the plastic due to its poor condition. There is a stain in the left side of the white mat as shown in photos. Otherwise it is in good condition for its age.
H 15 3/4” x L 11 3/4”
