Vintage 1960s Italian Agip Oil Six-Legged Fire-Breathing Dog Logo Ashtray
This faience, or glazed earthenware, piece features the logo of Agip, an Italian oil and gas company. The six legs are said to symbolize the four wheels of a car and two legs of a driver. The back of the ashtray reads ‘cane a sei zampe Fedele amico dell’uomo a quattro ruote’ which translates as ‘six-legged dog, faithful friend of man on four wheels’.
This is in excellent vintage condition, never used. There are several online asking anywhere from $ 50-220, but we really don’t think this is worth that much (especially since none seem to have sold at all)!
