Vintage Burmese Lion Coin Buttons 1953-1956-1965 (Set of 4)
Our mother could have picked these up in Burma/Myanmar or northern Thailand anytime in the 1970s or 1980s.
Each coin features a left-facing lion, or chinthe, on one side. On the other side, a decorative floral border on the left and right flank the value and date of the coin. We were only able to translate the date, which we believe was 1953 on one, 1956 on two, and 1965 on the last.
We do not know the metal material they are made from. They are in good condition for their age although there is some wear from use and they could use a cleaning.
Each coin is H 3/4” x L 3/4” x D 1/16” and weighs 0.14 oz (4g)
