Vintage Brunswick Canadian Flyer Gold Crown Figure Skates, 1960s (For Décor)

$30.00Price

- Sold for décor purposes only. These are not safe to skate in anymore according to online sources. –

Produced during the 1960s by Burnswick Sports Products in Connecticut, these black leather skates distinguishing feature is a gold stripe up the tongue of the boot. They do not have the gold tone blades associated with some ‘Gold Crown’ skates. They were reportedly made for beginners and recreational skaters, not high performance competitors. We believe the blades are steel.

The brand was discontinued in the 1970s or 1980s. Brunswick divested from its skating product  line due to competition by major players.

Our pair of skates are in relatively good vintage condition, with only a few scuffs and scratches on the side, some tarnishing on the blades, and a fold in the top right boot’s tongue which can probably be worked out.

We would estimate these are Women’s US Size 9 boots, but again, the materials are now old and unsafe for modern use. (We do not know who we inherited these from as they are not our mother's or grandmother's size to the best of our knowledge!)

Fun fact: The label ‘Canadian Flyer’ was used to market the skates through association with Canada’s strong skating and hockey culture, even though these were made in the USA.

H 12” x L 13” (boot L12”, heel to toe end about 10 1/2”) x D 3 7/8”
