Vintage Collectible TASCO Pocket Arithrometer Mechanical Calculator
This dates back to the 1940s according to our online research, and is an exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. It was designed to assist with adding and subtracting numbers. The instructions are missing but can be found online. Included is the stylus, which tucks into a special slot at the top of the original case, which is indeed in an aged state as visible in photos.
All parts work as intended – the sliding plate, or subtraction shield, moves up and down, all 8 columns of numbers move easily with the stylus, the lever at the top moves all numbers back to zero.
