Vintage George Straith Pleated Wool Skirt (Size XS), c 1960s

$30.00Price

We believe this belonged to our mother who was very, very skinny when in her 20s. Many thanks to our model who is admittedly not quite as skinny as our mother was when young. It has four pleats – one in the center of the back, and three spread along the front side.

The label reads ‘George Straith Ltd. The Woollen Sport Shop, Victoria, Canada’, which was founded in 1917 and still exists as Straith’s Fine Clothing. Another crumpled up tag reads Dereta, London. Yet another says it is 100% woven wool, made in England.

There is a 12 size tag inside but that was then, this is now: The skirt’s waist is only 21” in circumference, 18 1/2” hip to hip. Length is 27”. So very small.

The zipper is still functional and the clasp is not in danger of falling off. There is an extra little strip of waistband to protect from the hook digging into the side. There is no lining as visible in photos. We see no damage inside or out.

Note: We found it paired with the Mirsa jacket also on offer but listed it separately as the jacket would fit more people than the skirt.
