Vintage Handmade Carnelian-Like Stone and Silver Band, Size 6.25

This unmarked silver ring holds what we were told is a faceted carnelian stone in an interesting diamond shaped or claw-like setting. Carnelian, a form of quartz, is associated with courage, motivation, and creativity.  We were unable to confirm that it is carnelian however, as the gemologist we consulted said it was not cost-efficient to test. The band did test positive for silver in a home acid test however.
 
It was found in our grandmother’s jewelry collection but has no maker’s mark, therefore we do not know where or when she purchased it. The style probably dates to the mid-century. We could find nothing with a similar setting online.
 
There are some strange marks inside the band, but we think they are from the manufacturing process.
