Vintage Hollow Unmarked Silver Shan Lahu Akha Rigid Cuff with Bell Inside 6"
Warning: This is a rigid cuff. Please note it only fits wrists of 6" or less.
This faceted hollow tubular bracelet was probably purchased by our mother in northern Thailand in the 1970s or 1980s. It features a bell like fragment inside that makes a light noise when the bracelet is shaken.
The cuff is in good condition but has the shadow of a former price tag on the inside at shown in photos and a few natural imperfections from the hand hammered pattern, particularly near the ends, which are a distinct shape often used in Akha jewelry.
According to Arts of Asia, this would have been made by Shan silversmiths for men of the Lahu and Akha hill tribes or mountain people who inhabit northern Thailand.
