Vintage Mini Thai Klong Jar / Small Vase with Horses, 1980s
his dark green and cream glazed clay jar features three prancing horses.
The jar is modeled after the traditional ‘klong jar’ which was a much larger jar filled with water for passerbys to drink from, used for washing by hand held bucket, or storage of water for other purposes.
We believe this was made in Ratchaburi, Thailand, and purchased in the early 1980s. This was pulled out of a box unopened in decades, wrapped in newspaper dated July 1984 and marked from Kiatipoom, which may have been a friend or a ceramic shop. We were unable to find any references to Kiatipoom online that were relevant.
It is in excellent condition, only a few natural imperfections visible to the eye including a crack under the glaze above one horse as shown in photos.
