Vintage Mini Thai Klong Jars / Small Vases with Phoenix, 1980s (Set of 2)
These dark green and cream glazed clay jars each feature what we believe are two phoenixes flying with branches with flower blossom and leaves in their beaks.
These are modeled after the traditional ‘klong jar’ which was a much larger jar filled with water for passerbys to drink from, used for washing by hand held bucket, or storage of water for other purposes. This was probably made in Ratchaburi, Thailand.
We believe this were made in Ratchaburi, Thailand, and purchased in the early 1980s. They were pulled out of a box unopened in decades, wrapped in newspaper dated July 1984 and marked from Kiatipoom, which may have been a friend or a ceramic shop. We were unable to find any references to Kiatipoom online that were relevant.
They are in excellent condition, only a few natural imperfections visible to the eye. One is slightly smaller than the other.
Larger: H 2 5/8” x W 2 1/2”
Slightly Smaller: H 2 1/2” x W 2 1/2”
Note: These are most likely not dishwasher or microwave safe.
