Vintage Nepali Tibetan Buddhist Woodblock Print: Guru Rimpoche

$5.00Price

Printed on rice paper or lokta paper.

We believe this temple woodblock print depicts Guru Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rimpoche, a highly revered figure in Tibetan Buddhism.

He is credited with establishing Buddhism in Tibet during the 8th century and is considered the principal guru-deity of the Nyingma school.

This is not the neatest of woodblock prints, with the left side edge of the print off the edge of the paper, but we understand that is common. The act of creating the print is a spiritual act, the purpose not being to commercialize the product. Ours has some creases, which can be ironed out with a cloth between the iron and the print on low setting if one has the patience. It also has a stain as shown in photos which we believe was on the paper when acquired and may have been an imperfection resulting from the paper making process.

Print itself is H 16” x L 9 3/4”
