Vintage Nikon 9X 35 7.3º (A Series) Adjustable Binoculars & Case, 1960s

In good working condition, with little sign of age other than possible water stains inside the lens which did not affect vision when we tested them (and were impossible to photograph).
 
These were built to last, with a black finish that has stood the test of time. The 9X magnification was an innovation of the time, and these also allowed a wider view than standard. It has both a moving main focus wheel and a right eye piece diopter to allow one to compensate for differing vision between eyes.
 
This is marked with the logo NIPPON KOGAKU / TOKYO and serial number 271809 near the left side eye piece, and Nikon / 9X 35 7.3º / PAT. PEND. on the right side. There is no model number. 
 
According to our online research, Nippon Kogaku often produced binoculars without specific model names or numbers. They were often only identified by their basic specifications, such as 9X 35. The serial number was the primary form of identification. 
 
We were able to date these to the 1960-1968 period. The original Nikon 9X 3.5 were produced as part of the A Series of Nikon binoculars in 1959-1960, with the Nippon Kogaku Tokyo logo near the left eye piece and the serial number on the center hinge pin. While we have the Nippon Kogaku logo, our serial number is just under it. From 1969-1978, the company logo was replaced with just Nikon.
 
Ours has very little signs of age externally, but we believe the lens need to be cleaned out inside given water stains on the glass. They still work however as we tested them before listing. The leather strap is in good condition for its age and there are no cracks in the casing or eye pieces that we noticed. The adjustable center hinge still works smoothly. The case, however, is showing signs of age, including on the leather strap. See photos.
 
We are missing the lens caps on both eye pieces and end pieces. We also believe there should have been a cap at the far end of the center hinge, based on photos of others online.
