Vintage Persian Blue Donkey Bead Screw Back Earrings / Size M

Believed to be ‘donkey beads’ which are made from a non-clay based ceramic of quartz and sand called ‘faience’, originating in ancient Egypt. They are said to be charms for ‘good luck’ and a ‘long life’. They were very popular in the 1960s.
 
These are costume jewelry pieces inherited from our grandmother, date and place acquired unknown.
 
One of the nubs does have some discoloration, possibly tarnish.
