Vintage Polaroid Autofocus 660 Land Camera with Film Pack & Mounts – Half Tested
We have tested the flash and the camera function (see video), but we were using partially exposed film so the photos did not come out. We have one unopened cartridge of old film for the buyer to test. If it does not work, we promise to refund payment. (We know it would be more fun for a buyer to test right away rather than wait to get a delivery of new film, which is available online.)
In addition to the camera and the unopened film cartridge, this comes with the attached original strap.
The Polaroid Autofocus 660 Land Camera, launched in the 1980s, was one of the first to use Polaroid’s sonar technology to adjust focus to the subject. It has a built-in flash and lighten/darken exposure controls, both of which still work. No batteries are needed as the cartridge packet includes a charging system.
The finder window on our camera does seem to have a crack on it, but the lens seems to be fine. There are a few scuff marks on the outer body and the strap has a white stain, but overall this is in good vintage condition.
We recommend a buyer watch a video on how to use the camera before testing. In short: The front features the flash on top, and from left to right, the sonar focus window, the lens, and the finder. On the side, the red button is for the flash. Hold it halfway and wait for the red lights to disappear, which means the flash is charged. Press it all the way back, pushing the black button behind it and you get a photo with flash. Push only the black button and you get a photo without flash.
Use the side button below the red button to pop open the film cartridge door. Insert the cartridge with the electronics facing downwards. The first time you insert a cartridge, a black slide will come out automatically. This is the cover sheet for the film packet. Hold it to cover any photos you take to avoid exposure before the photo has developed fully.
Other features include a window on the back, right side, which tells you how many photos are left on the cartridge. Cartridges used to come with 10, but now only 8. You can buy both color and black and white cartridges.
On the bottom is a tripod mount, but there is no hole for a shutter release mechanism. This is, after all, an analog camera.
Also worth mentioning is that they advise you do not shake photos anymore. Put them upside down and let them develop with dark slide over or back in the box
This will come with a partially used cartridge installed already, which as mentioned above is not likely to produce photos. We are leaving it in so you can test the camera functions before putting in the unopened cartridge.
