Vintage Ribbed Shell-like Hollow Clip on Earrings

These heavier silver tone pieces come from our grandmother’s costume jewelry collection. Date and place purchased unknown but we think it may be Mexican. There is no maker’s mark and these tested negative for silver using the acid test.
 
These sit just below the lobe. H 1” x L 7/8” x W 5/8” not including clip on.
