Vintage Tibetan Silver Filigree Red Coral Om Mani Padme Hum Mantra Cuff 6.5”

SKU: B091
$100.00Price

Beautifully hand-crafted filigree swirls representing the circle of life set off this cuff bracelet from others on the market. They lead to the Sanskrit phrase ‘om mani pad me hum’, a Buddhist mantra that reminds the wearer, man or woman, of the bodhisattva of compassion, Avalokiteśvara. The mantra is also considered a condensed form of all Buddhist teachings.

This unmarked piece was most likely picked up in Nepal in the late 1960s by our mother who lived there for a year and half. It is in good condition but for the patina, which we believe adds to its character.

We believe this made of Tibetan silver, which is not sterling silver. Traditional Tibetan silver was a silver-copper alloy, with low silver content. Today, the term Tibetan silver means a copper alloy. The red stones are believed to be red coral, as is common in Tibetan and Nepalese jewelry.
