Vintage Wool Herringbone Vest with Four Welt Pockets and Ivory Lining

$20.00Price

We believe this is a woman’s vest, probably from the 1960s, but there is no reason a man could not wear it as there are no darts in the chest area. A herringbone vest is a type of waistcoat characterized by its fabric’s distinctive timeless, textured herringbone weave, formed by interlocked V shapes resembling the bones of a herring fish. It is usually work over a dress shirt for both formal and casual occasions. It has a classic V-neck design with a button front closure and four single-welt pockets, as well as a back strap belt for a custom fit.

The four pockets have no holes or debris. It is in remarkably good condition, with just two minor stains inside below the left arm hole. See photos.

The area under the arms measures 19” seam to seam, so the lower chest measurement would be 38”. The length from the back of the neck to the hem is 22 1/2”.
