Vintage Zwilling J A Henckels Two-Blade Pocket Knife (Well-Loved)

$10.00Price

We say well-loved as it is obvious this piece was carried around and used often by someone in our family’s history.

We wouldn’t have normally added this to our website but the name JA Henckels has an interesting history (see below) and big fans on eBay, this particular model possibly dating to the mid-century and possibly made with Bakelite panels. It certainly pre-dated 1969 when the logo was changed to a red background on all products.

JA Henckels was actually Zwilling JA Henckels, zwilling meaning twins as is shown in the logo that is still in use.

According to Wikipedia, Zwilling J. A. Henckels AG is a German knife-maker based in Solingen, Germany. It was founded as a knife maker in June 1731 by Peter Henckels, and today one of the leading manufacturers of chef’s knifes. It is one of the oldest operating companies in the world. The brand's namesake was Johann Abraham Henckels (1771–1850), who renamed the brand after himself under his leadership and became one of the first to have the company’s name trade marked.

This pocket knife has stains and scars. We did not try to polish or clean it. Both blades still open, the smaller one a bit stiff at first attempt. The interior appears clean.

Bonus: It comes with a vintage holder as shown in the last two photos. Not sure if this was its original holder as we found it elsewhere in our boxes, but it fits perfectly.
