White Gold Akoya Pearl Mikimoto Necklace, c 1960s, 17.5”

SKU: N102
$1,400.00Price

This extremely well maintained necklace, which we believe was purchased in the 1960s, has a special ornately decorated pearl topped clasp stamped W.G. for white gold, K10 for quality, and M within a clam, or oyster shell, the logo of Mikimoto. The beads are those Mikimoto was famous for, the akoya pearls perfectly round, white, and known for their high luster.

Mikimoto is a Japanese jewelry company. One of its founders was a pioneer in creating cultured pearls, revolutionizing the jewelry industry in the 1890s. The brand remains alive and is synonymous with high-quality, elegant pearl jewelry, according to our online research.

This was in our grandmother’s vintage jewelry collection. We do not know exactly where or when she purchased them.
