William Wenzlick: Artwork by a Talented 12 Year Old, 1860

$5.00Price

This pencil drawing in amazing detail was done by our grandmother’s father William Wenzlick at the tender age of 12, according to a note found with it. We are impressed…

The artwork features a neatly bearded soldier with ram’s head shaped helmet.

It is signed in the lower right: Wm Wenzlick, Milwaukee Wis. Oct 27, 1860. There appears to have been some other penciled names or details here which are illegible. On the other side of the image are the words ‘1/4th, larger’, the meaning of which we do not know.

It is in decent vintage condition, a bit creased and with a tear on the far left and a couple of spots.

H 17 1/2” x L 14 3/4”
