Winona Wenzlick (1907-2002): Travel Sketches: Amboina, Indonesia, 1935 (Signed)
This drawing depicts a harbour in what is now called Ambon in Indonesia. It was an important area for the Dutch East India Company, known for its clove trade.
Our grandmother, then Winona Wenzlick (unmarried), did a world cruise with her artistic grand aunts in 1934-1935, during which it seems she created this as it is signed, titled and dated 1935.
This piece is taped by the upper right corner only to a cream mat board with only a few smudges on the side of the mat, otherwise in excellent condition.
Note: We actually have two of these for some reason, but this is the nicer one.
